NDMA issues alert about possible weather hazards across country

National Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert regarding possible weather hazards in different parts of the country from today to 18th of this month.

According to the NDMA's National Emergencies Operation Center, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Islamabad, parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 12 to 24 hours, with chances of hailstorms at isolated locations.

The NDMA has also issued a Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) alert for northern areas due to rising temperatures and glacier melting, warning of possible flash floods and landslides in glacier-prone regions.

A heatwave alert has also been issued for southern and central Pakistan from tomorrow to 18th of this month with lower Sindh, southern Punjab and eastern Balochistan likely to be most affected.

Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay hydrated and follow official weather advisories.

NDMA has directed all relevant institutions and district administrations to remain on alert and ensure precautionary measures, including activation of heatwave response plans and establishment of cooling centers.
