July 10, 2026

Armed groups of the banned Action Committee have made life miserable for the people of Rawalakot and surrounding areas.

According to the spokesperson of Poonch Division Administration, Rawalakot armed members of the banned Action Committee have established blockades on all roads in Rawalakot and its surrounding markets, creating shortage of food supplies. The banned committee has blocked roads by cutting down trees and placing rocks on the roads.

The spokesperson said drivers are afraid to transport food and essential commodities because the miscreants belonging to the banned committee subject them to intimidation and humiliating treatment.

The administration of Rawalakot said law enforcement agencies today began clearing trees and debris from the roads to reopen the Bagh–Rawalakot route. The Bagh-Rawalakot route has now been cleared.

According to Rawalakot administration, traders and transporters can now bring food and other essential goods via Kohala route. Other blocked routes will also be cleared.

The administration said identification of the miscreants through video footage is underway, and action is being taken at every level against those who assisted them.

Law enforcement agencies have launched an effective crackdown against blackmailing, illegal possession of weapons and road blockades by the banned Action Committee.
