June 10, 2023

Sudan's warring generals have agreed to a 24-hour ceasefire starting from today.

Saudi Foreign Ministry in a statement said representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces agreed to a countrywide ceasefire.

It added that should the parties fail to observe the 24-hour ceasefire, facilitators will be compelled to consider adjourning talks in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

The United Nations says nearly two million people have been displaced due to fighting in Sudan, including 476,000 who have sought refuge in neighboring countries.
