Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has directed for timely action to accelerate the privatization process and advance government's structural reforms agenda aimed at improving efficiency.

He was chairing a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation in Islamabad.

The meeting reviewed progress on the privatisation of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), and Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), and directed the Privatization Commission to complete the consultation process with the Power Division by early next week.

The Committee also considered the inclusion of additional entities in the privatisation programme and approved the proposals of the Privatization Division with modifications.

The budget of the Privatization Commission was also presented and approved with amendments. The Committee also reviewed the annual privatization program and the way forward and directed the Commission to expedite the process.
