June 09, 2026

The people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir have rejected the protest call of proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee.

The people in Mirpur said the lockdown would adversely affect businesses and place an additional burden on daily wage earners. They said if the protest turns violent, it would benefit hostile elements. Therefore, the issue should be resolved through dialogue.

They said Pakistan and Kashmir are inseparable, and no one will be allowed to create unrest. They said contrary to the committee’s call, markets and business centers in Mirpur remain open.

The people called on the banned Joint Awami Action Committee to end its rigid approach and come to the negotiating table to discuss its demands.

In Rawalakot, business centers and markets are open as per routine.

Educational, business and social activities are continuing, while traffic has also been fully restored.

Business centers and markets are open in Muzaffarabad and Bagh cities.

In Muzaffarabad, attendance in both public and private departments is normal, while academic activities in educational institutions are also continuing as usual.

Meanwhile, in Bagh also, educational, commercial and social activities are continuing normally, and the people are engaged in their daily routines.
