Govt ensuring availability of petroleum products in country: Aurangzeb

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb says the government has ensured the availability of petroleum products in the country despite the prevailing regional situation.

He was speaking in a televised address on the country’s economic situation tonight, alongside Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik.

The Finance Minister said the country's economic situation remains stable, with GDP growth projected at four percent this year compared to 3.1 percent last year.

He said exports have increased by 14 percent, while remittances reached 3.8 billion dollars in March and 3.5 billion dollars in April.

Muhammad Aurangzeb said Roshan Digital Accounts recorded 260 million dollars in March, while the figure rose to 320 million dollars in April.

He said Pakistan's import bill increased by more than one billion dollars between March and April.

The Finance Minister said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir are working tirelessly for the restoration of peace in the region, and he extended his best wishes to them.

In his remarks, the Petroleum Minister reiterated the government's commitment to providing maximum relief to the public in the upcoming budget.

He said Pakistan remains among the countries where fuel supplies have remained available despite the prevailing situation.

Ali Pervaiz Malik expressed gratitude to the Saudi government for ensuring the availability of crude oil for Pakistan. He also thanked Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran.

He said that despite limited resources, the government provided subsidies worth billions of rupees to farmers and transporters, as well as on petroleum products.

The Petroleum Minister said the government will purchase low-cost LNG from friendly countries to ensure that the public does not face difficulties due to increased electricity demand during the summer season.
