Qualified Pakistanis working in int’l banks served as Governors State Bank in past: Durrani

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Media Iftikhar Durrani says qualified Pakistanis serving international institutions on various posts have been appointed as Governors of State Bank and other organizations in the past. 

In response to Bilawal Bhutto's comments regarding appointment of governor State Bank, he tweeted that PPP Chairman is in dire need to hire a qualified media team who can research and then brief him sincerely on Pakistani issues.

Iftikhar Durani said Dr Muhammad Yaqoob came from IMF in 1993 and stayed as governor for six years under PPP and PML-N governments while Dr Ishrat Hussain came from World Bank in 1999 and served for six years as governor.

He said Shamshad Akhtar came from Asian Development Bank and served for three years while Yasin Anwar and Ashraf Wathra also served international banks outside Pakistan.
