The Syrian military command has announced that the 24-year reign of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria has ended after he fled the country.

This comes after the Syrian rebels seized control of capital Damascus today.

Head of the rebel group Tahrir al-Sham militia, Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, said in his statement that prime minister Muhammad Ghazi al-Jalali will continue to run all state institutions.
