Pakistan calls for collective response to contemporary terrorist threat
October 08, 2026

Pakistan has called upon the international community to address the contemporary terrorist threat through a collective, comprehensive and coordinated response.

The remarks came from Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN Usman Jadoon while speaking at the Sixth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Ambassador emphasized tackling the terrorist threats from Afghanistan including by holding to account those who are providing them safe havens and those who are aiding and financing them.

Usman Jadoon said Pakistan continues to face terrorist attacks from externally sponsored groups such as the TTP and BLA and its Majeed Brigade which operate with impunity from Afghan soil with the active support of India. He said no country can tolerate such brazen attacks on its citizens.

He said Pakistan has been compelled to respond with precise, well-planned and calibrated counter-terrorism operations against terrorist infrastructure and safe havens along its western border, based on credible intelligence. He said these strikes are strictly targeted at TTP and BLA terrorists and are carried out with high precision and accuracy to avoid civilian casualties.

Usman Jadoon said state terrorism in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Occupied Palestinian Territory must be roundly rejected and stopped.

The Ambassador said Pakistan fully supports the OIC’s position that a consensus-based Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) must clearly distinguish between acts of terrorism and legitimate struggle of peoples for their right to self-determination.
