Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has underscored the importance of developing a competitive, innovative and sustainable automotive ecosystem that supports economic growth and advances environmental sustainability through a future-ready automotive sector.

He was chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad today to review the Auto and Auto Parts Policy, with a particular focus on accelerating Pakistan’s transition towards Electric Vehicles.

The committee was briefed on measures to promote EV adoption, strengthen domestic manufacturing, facilitate industry growth through supportive government policies, create new employment opportunities, boost exports, and contribute to Pakistan’s climate change mitigation efforts.

A subcommittee was constituted to undertake review in consultations with all stakeholders and finalize the draft policy.
