PM vows to strengthen trade ties with Malaysia

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to strengthening economic and trade relations with Malaysia.

He was talking to a delegation of leading Malaysian business group Gobi Partners, led by its Co-Founder and Chair Thomas G. Tsao in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister said there is immense potential for enhancing cooperation in various economic sectors between Pakistan and Malaysia.

Referring to the Pakistan-Malaysia Business and Investment Conference held on Monday, the Prime Minister said such initiatives are a welcome step towards promoting business-to-business linkages between the two countries.

Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that the government is fully committed to creating a business-friendly environment and improving the ease of doing business in Pakistan.

He said the Special Investment Facilitation Council is providing all possible support and facilities to foreign investors.

Welcoming Gobi Partners' confidence in Pakistan's startup ecosystem, the Prime Minister said the government is implementing focused reforms to support startups and early-stage investors through investment facilitation and better access to infrastructure.

He said that mobilizing both domestic and international capital is our priority to develop a sustainable startup ecosystem.

Highlighting the importance of the digital economy, the Prime Minister said sectors like fintech, e-commerce, and IT services form the backbone of Pakistan's national development strategy.

He expressed Pakistan's readiness to welcome international business groups and investors interested in the country's growing IT, technology, and artificial intelligence sectors.

The Gobi Partners delegation showed keen interest in collaboration in e-commerce and financial technologies in Pakistan.
