Pakistan is set to resume offshore oil and gas exploration activities after a gap of twenty years, with a seismic survey vessel operated by Turkish Petroleum expected to arrive in Karachi this month.
Preparations for the arrival of the Turkish vessel were reviewed at a high-level meeting held in Islamabad today, chaired by Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik.
The Turkish Petroleum's vessel is likely to reach Pakistan between 17th to 20th of this month.
The meeting discussed in detail the security, maritime and operational arrangements for the vessel's arrival and offshore exploration activities.
He said the initiative would make a significant contribution to Pakistan's energy security while further strengthening bilateral energy cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
Meanwhile, the Project Manager of Turkish Petroleum expressed gratitude to Pakistani authorities for their full cooperation.
