Pakistan has reaffirmed its strong support for the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), underscoring the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement between Sudan and South Sudan for a peaceful and mutually acceptable resolution of Abyei’s final status.

The remarks were made by Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Syed Haider Shah while speaking at the Security Council briefing on UNISFA.

The Ambassador highlighted the contribution of approximately six hundred Pakistani peacekeepers to the Mission’s efforts, particularly in community engagement, patrolling and civilian protection.
