Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain has inaugurated Pakistan's first high-tech automatic Beeswax Foundation Sheet Manufacturing Unit in Islamabad.

The state-of-the-art facility has been established at the National Agricultural Research Centre's (NARC) Honeybee Research Institute (HBRI).

The unit aims to modernise Pakistan's beekeeping sector, promote local production of high-quality beeswax foundation sheets and improve beekeepers' access to advanced technology.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony in Islamabad today, Rana Tanveer Hussain said Pakistan possesses significant potential for producing diverse varieties of high-quality honey.

He said the establishment of the modern unit marks an important milestone in the development of Pakistan's beekeeping industry.

Rana Tanveer Hussain said Pakistani honey needs to be promoted more effectively in international markets, with greater access to high-value markets including Europe, Japan and North America.
