International Geodiversity Day is being observed today.

The day is aimed at raising awareness across society about the importance of non-living nature for the well-being and prosperity of all living beings on the planet.

The theme of the day this year is "Geodiversity at our doorstep".

Examples of non-living nature include rocks, mountains, minerals, water bodies, sunlight, air, wind, clouds and glaciers.
