Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has stressed the need to promote value-added exports to strengthen Pakistan's position in global markets.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of a water treatment plant at the Sialkot Tannery Zone today, he said the country's economic progress is the result of the untiring efforts of the business community, entrepreneurs and exporters.

He praised Sialkot's business community for transforming the city into a leading export hub both nationally and internationally.

The Minister said Sialkot's manufacturing sector, particularly its sports goods industry, is globally recognized, reflecting the strength and excellence of local industry.
