Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad represented Pakistan at the UN Ceremony commemorating the International Day of UN Peacekeepers.

The event honored the courage, service and sacrifice of peacekeepers worldwide, including the posthumous award of the Dag Hammarskjöld Medal to 68 fallen peacekeepers and the presentation of the Captain Mbaye Diagne Medal for Exceptional Courage.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres presented the awards, and a minute of silence was observed in tribute to peacekeepers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of peace.
