Addressing the 2nd Pakistan Expo on Disaster Risk Reduction 2025 in Islamabad on Tuesday, he shared his recent visit to Gilgit-Baltistan, where he witnessed the devastation caused by glacial lake outburst floods, expressing deep concern for the affected communities.
He praised the resilience of Pakistan's vulnerable communities and lauded NDMA's role in empowering them with resources.
Citing China's green transition and its leadership in solar energy exports, the Minister underscored the need to harness Pakistani youth's potential for a thriving green economy.
Musadik Malik emphasized that nations contributing least to the crisis suffer the most, and deserve global support.
In his remarks, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik emphasized the importance of future preparedness to minimize disaster-related risks.
He noted that Pakistan is the fourth most climate-affected country and among the most water-stressed globally.
The Chairman NDMA underlined seasonal disaster anticipation strategies, including monsoon rains and winter fog and smog.
He also praised the role of the National Emergencies Operation Center in anticipating disasters, alerting vulnerable communities, and aiding in mitigation efforts.
The 2nd Pakistan Expo on Disaster Risk Reduction is the landmark event, which serves as a pivotal forum for enhancing disaster preparedness, fostering collaboration and showcasing innovative solutions to mitigate risks.
