The United Nations Security Council has adopted by consensus a Presidential Statement initiated by Pakistan on "The Role of Diplomacy during Active Hostilities".
In a post on social media platform X, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed delight that this initiative carries forward Pakistan's sustained efforts and contributions during its term on the Security Council to advance the peaceful settlement of disputes.
He said when hostilities intensify, diplomacy must not retreat; it must become an even more powerful instrument for de-escalation, dialogue and peace.
He described this important contribution to the Council's work and said it reaffirms our conviction that the pursuit and efforts for peace must never cease, even in the darkest hours of conflict.
Ishaq Dar said Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing diplomacy not merely through words, but through purposeful and concrete action to foster dialogue and promote lasting peace.
