US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says Washington continues to maintain channels of communication with the Taliban on important issues.
Addressing a news conference at the State Department in Washington, Blinken said he is visiting Qatar today to meet with Afghans and workers there and later go to Germany for a ministerial meeting.
The ministerial meeting will be held virtually with partners, including more than twenty countries that have a stake in relocating and settling Afghans.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of US Army, General Mark Milley has warned of a civil war in Afghanistan if Taliban failed to consolidate power and establish governance.
In an interview, he underscored the tenuous situation that can lead to a reconstitution of Al-Qaeda, growth of Daesh or other myriad of terrorist groups over the next three years.
