Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to adopt an effective and comprehensive strategy to ensure the participation of world-class investors in the privatization of Power Distribution Companies (DISCOs).

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad today, he said successful roadshows conducted within the country and abroad to attract investors’ participation in the privatization process are encouraging.

He emphasized that stages of the DISCOs’ privatization process should be completed within the stipulated timeframe, in accordance with established rules and in a profitable manner.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that recommendations of highly professional and capable consultants should be ensured throughout the privatization process.

He said all required legal arrangements and the financial regulatory framework necessary to facilitate the privatization process should be completed in a timely manner.

He said the interests of consumers must be given priority during the privatization process.

The Prime Minister directed that the ongoing institutional reforms and restructuring process of the Privatization Commission should be completed within one month.
