ECC approves multi-billion-rupee allocations for various projects

The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet has approved multi-billion-rupee allocations for development, security, and infrastructure projects.

The approval was given during a meeting of ECC, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad today.

The Committee sanctioned 7.026 billion rupees for the Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Programme to ensure continuity of development projects and timely achievement of objectives.

A further 10.15 billion rupees were approved for the Pakistan Navy's Hangor Project.

The ECC approved seven allocations submitted by the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, including 692.9 million rupees for Islamabad Peace Talks security, 241 million rupees compensation for the Imam Bargah blast, 800 million rupees for Coast Guard patrol boats, 1.88 billion rupees for expansion of Safe City Islamabad, 150 million rupees for NACTA operations, and 413.9 million rupees for Reko Diq’s security.

Other approvals included 733 million rupees for salaries of Pakistan Television Corporation, 183.5 million rupees for telecom infrastructure in Shigar, Gilgit-Baltistan, and 119.9 million rupees for revised salaries of Parliamentary Secretaries.

Development funds for urban infrastructure projects in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa totaling over 11 billion rupees were also approved.

Additionally, the Committee approved 1.3 billion rupees for modernization of the Pakistan Mint, 4.377 billion rupees to support Gilgit-Baltistan, and a summary regarding the operational continuity of the Engro Vopak Terminal.
