
The Sindh government has approved a five hundred fifteen million rupees relief and subsidy package for the fishing community in view of rising petroleum prices.
The decision was taken at a Sindh cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in Karachi.
Under the package, 2,331 small coastal boats with 20-horsepower engines will receive a subsidy of 200,000 rupees each, while 488 boats with 10-horsepower engines will be given 100,000 rupees each.
Fishermen of Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal and Badin will benefit from the initiative.
The Chief Minister also announced a one-time payment for two months' fuel expenses for registered boat owners.
