NFC will engage in fair, inclusive award: Aurangzeb

The inaugural meeting of the 11th National Finance Commission was held in Islamabad today with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in the chair.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, and Balochistan Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb underscored the critical role of NFC in ensuring equitable distribution of financial resources, promoting fiscal sustainability and supporting long-term economic growth.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed unwavering commitment to the prosperity, unity and progress of Pakistan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for holding the meeting. He hoped the 11th National Finance Commission will address concerns of his province.

Representatives of Punjab and Balochistan emphasized the importance of equitable resource distribution and consistency of policies.

The meeting decided to constitute a sub-group on matters pertaining to the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It will facilitate early formulation of its recommendations for the NFC by mid-next month.

The Commission resolved to continue its work through a structured series of meetings and technical consultations in the coming months, with the shared objective of achieving an equitable and sustainable NFC Award for the people of Pakistan.
