Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has said that Women Parliamentary Caucus in the National Assembly is significant achievement of the women parliamentarians.

He was speaking at the General Assembly of Women Parliamentary Caucus at Parliament House in Islamabad today.

The Speaker said that the Caucus has provided forum where women parlaimentarians could work for development, empowerment and emancipation of women above party politics.

He said that the Caucus' basic task is to evolve consensus on gender issues on a bipartisan basis.

Asad Qaiser said Pakistan has demonstrated a sincere commitment to international human rights treaties endorsing women rights and gender equality in its society.

On this occasion, MNA Munaza Hassan was unanimously elected as Secretary of the Women Parliamentary Caucus.

Patron of the Women Parliamentary Caucus, Dr. Fehmida Mirza and former Secretary Shaista Pervaiz Malik also briefed the working of Causus and their achievements to the General Assembly.
