The United States has expressed grave concern over the arrest of an American journalist by Russian authorities under the charge of spying and demanded his immediate release.

During a telephonic conversation between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the arrest of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich was thoroughly discussed.

Lavrov rejected the American demand, rather, accused Washington and Western media of politicizing the case saying the fate of the journalist will be determined by the court.
