In an interview with Radio Pakistan's correspondent Qasim Bukhari, he said that PKLI provides free treatment to nearly 80 percent of deserving kidney and liver patients.

In addition, PKLI has performed 16 bone marrow transplants and approximately 14,500 surgical procedures, while more than 500 robotic surgeries have already been completed successfully.

Professor Dr. Saeed Akhtar urged people to donate generously to PKLI during the holy month of Ramadan so that the institute can continue to provide effective treatment to deserving patients.

He said that PKLI is also working on future projects, which include the establishment of a PKLI University, establishment of Pakistan’s first advanced biobank research facility, promotion of medical tourism and the launch of a deceased donor transplant program.

He said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, several major reforms are being introduced in the healthcare sector across Punjab, which will further improve public health services in the province.
