
Chairman Prime Minister's Youth Program Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan says the government has taken a number of initiatives for empowerment of youth through skill development.
Addressing a seminar on Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Islamabad today, he said Skill Development Programme, under Prime Minister Youth Programme, has become one of the biggest programs across the country. He said the government is working to ensure young people in having have access to various fields.
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan also pointed out the success of the 'Digital Youth Hub' portal, saying that over six hundred thousand youngsters have get them registered on the portal so far.
He noted that the App has registered a record with two million downloads, and more than seven hundred thousand local and international companies have also registered on the platform.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, pointed out that sixty four percent of Pakistan's population is below the age of thirty years, terming it a powerful demographic dividend if harnessed effectively.
He said every year, about two to three million young people enter the labour market while the national training capacity is about four hundred thousand annually. He expressed the government's strong resolve to find a solution and bridge this critical gap.
