The twenty-fourth death anniversary of renowned poet and writer Ahmad Rahi was observed on Wednesday.

Ahmad Rahi was born in Amritsar, British India, in 1923.

Famous for writing captivating film poetry, Ahmad Rahi penned songs for more than a hundred movies. His songs for the Pakistani Punjabi film Heer Ranjha earned him national acclaim.

His collection of Punjabi poetry, Taranjan, won the Adamjee Award. Ahmad Rahi was also awarded the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan for his contributions to art and literature.

He passed away in Lahore on this day in 2002.
