Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the design of the Gujranwala Mass Transit System.
Chairing a meeting in Lahore today [Saturday], she said the project would transform the transport facility in Gujranwala and provide citizens with a modern and efficient travel facility.
The Chief Minister directed that every area of Gujranwala be connected to the metro train through feeder buses.
To ease traffic flow, it has been decided to construct two tunnel sections in the project, while in-principle approval has been granted for 17 to 19 kilometers of the transit line to run underground.
It was further decided that solar systems will be installed at every station and depot.
