The first National Anti-Polio Campaign of varied duration of the calendar year 2026 is underway in Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a statement, Prime Minister's Focal Person on Polio Eradication, Ayesha Raza Farooq, said the anti-polio vaccination campaign would be conducted till 8th of this month.

She said over forty-five million children under the age of five years will be vaccinated anti-polio drops during the campaign.

Ayesha Raza Farooq said a total of four hundred thousand trained health volunteers will go door-to-door to administer anti-polio drops to the children.

Sharing details of the polio cases, the Focal Person of the Prime Minister on Polio Eradication said seventy-four cases were reported across the country during the year 2024, which reduced to only thirty-one in the year 2025.

She said the significant decline in the polio cases in the country is a result of the international standard vaccine, people's trust and effective strategy of the government in this connection.

Ayesha Raza Farooq appealed to the parents to cooperate with the health departments' teams and administer anti-polio drops to their children to save them from this crippling disease.
