FM’s meetings with Tajik leadership to help enhance cooperation in various fields

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has left for Islamabad after representing Pakistan at three-day, 9th Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Conference in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

At Dushanbe Airport, Tajikistan's First Deputy Foreign Minister Khosro Nazari, Pakistan's Ambassador to Tajikistan Imran Haider and senior officials saw off the Foreign Minister.

On the side-lines of the Conference, the Foreign Minister met Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran and Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi.

In these meeting, ways to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields and to work together for peace and stability in the region were discussed.

He met the Tajik leadership including President Emomali Rahmon, Defence Minister Col. General Sher Ali Mirza and bilateral relations and cooperation in multilateral fields were discussed in detail.

Earlier, talking to media in Dushanbe today (Wednesday), Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan and Tajikistan are celebrating 30-year of diplomatic relations and Tajik President and Foreign Minister will visit Pakistan soon. 

He said both the countries are enjoying close cooperation and engagement at the United Nations, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Economic Cooperation Organization and other international fora and these will be more constructive in coming days.
