Democracy taking roots despite hurdles: Ahsan

Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal says that Senate and general elections will be held on time and PML-N will continue its mass contact campaign to mobilise its supporters.      

Talking to media after a high-level consultative meeting of PML-N in Islamabad, he said the leadership reviewed the political situation in the country and held discussion on the upcoming Senate elections.                

The meeting was chaired by President PML-N Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.            

Ahsan Iqbal said the democratic process is becoming strong in the country and democracy is taking roots despite all hurdles.              

He said for the second time a democratically elected government will complete its tenure which will send a positive message to the outside world. 

The Minister said the party’s leadership expressed satisfaction over the public response in the meetings recently addressed by Nawaz Sharif.

Speaking on the occassion, Senator Mushahidullah Khan said PML-N will fully participate in the Senate elections.

He said every conspiracy against democracy will be exposed.

He said nobody will be allowed to indulge in horse trading in the Senate elections.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has directed to provide full security to Chinese citizens working on different projects in the country and to establish a national data base to maintain crime as well as vehicles record. 

He made these directions while chairing a meeting held to review law and order situation in Islamabad.

The Minister said that special software should be also developed with the help of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority for control of mobile theft incidents.
