Punjab govt introduced reforms in various sectors: Shahbaz

The US Counsel General, Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore on Thursday.

Matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in various sectors were discussed during the meeting.On this occasion, Elizabeth Kennedy lauded the performance of the Punjab Chief Minister for taking revolutionary measures for the welfare of the masses.

She said that Punjab government has introduced marvelous reforms in various sectors. She said that US places tremendous importance to its relations with Pakistan and it will further strengthen wide-ranging cooperation in diverse fields.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan has set a new example in the comity of nations by rendering supreme sacrifices in the war against terrorism.He said that terrorism and extremism have become a global scourge and coordinated efforts are required at the international level to eliminate this menace.

On the other hand, presiding over meeting regarding "Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Dehat Prgramme", Shahbaz Sharif   said that all the energies should be utilized for timely completion of the program.

He said the program will prove a milestone to improve the system of cleanliness in the villages. The Chief Minister said that regular third-party audit of this program will be compulsory and that the districts showing exemplary performance under this programme will be encouraged and rewarded by the government.

The meeting reviewed in detail the different matters pertaining to the local government development package and “Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Dehat Program.”

Meanwhile, Director General Anti-Narcotics Force Major General Musarrat Nawaz Malik called on Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore. During the meeting, they reaffirmed their commitment to continue joint efforts in an effective manner for the elimination of the narcotics from the country.

Shahbaz Sharif said that elements involved in the heinous business of drugs are murderers of the humanity. On the occasion, Major General Musarrat Nawaz Malik said that Anti-Narcotics Force is taking effective measures to eliminate this menace.
