Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on the sidelines of Heart of Asia Istanbul Process in Dushanbe on Tuesday and discussed matters pertaining to bilateral relations and the Afghan peace process.

In his remarks, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said peaceful and stable Afghanistan is in the interest of Pakistan.

Voicing concerns over soaring incidents of violence in Afghanistan, the Foreign Minister said it has been persistent stance of Pakistan that the Afghan issue cannot be resolved through the use of force. 

He said Pakistan supports political settlement of Afghan conflict through comprehensive dialogue.

The Foreign Minister said Pakistan will continue its sincere efforts for regional peace including the Afghan peace process.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani extended his best wishes for early recovery of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
