PILDAT conducted 300 training programs for parliamentarians

Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development & Transparency (PILDAT) has conducted about three hundred training programs for parliamentarians since its inception in a bid to help them understand the parliamentary processes and better discharge their duties.

In an exclusive interview with our correspondent Zahid Hameed, President of PILDAT Ahmed Bilal Mehboob said the purpose of establishing this organization was to contribute to the strengthening of democracy and democratic institutions in the country.

Ahmed Bilal said his organization has also executed projects aimed at involving the youth in the democratic process. Firstly, we started Youth Parliament project at the national level to acquaint the young lot with the national issues. Then this project was taken to the provincial level with the establishment of Youth Provincial Assemblies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

Ahmed Bilal said PILDAT has also initiated Youth Political Fellowship program which is specifically for the youth having membership of any party.

When asked about the periodical reports of PILDAT on the performance of federal and provincial governments, Ahmed Bilal said they will publish a report on the one year performance of PTI governments in the center and the two provinces by the end of this year.  He said we have started collecting relevant data for this purpose. He said we had also issued reports on the PTI's one hundred day program as well as on the completion of their six months in office.
