Trump signs order seeking to strip social media giants
May 29, 2020

The US President, Donald Trump has signed an order seeking to strip social media giants like Twitter of legal immunity for content on their platforms.

The executive order calls on government regulators to evaluate if online platforms should be eligible for liability protection for content posted by their millions of users.

The move has been widely slammed by President Trump's critics describing it as a legally dubious act of political revenge.

Meanwhile, talking to reporters at White House, President Trump gave his reaction and said that social media companies have had unchecked power to censor, restrict, edit, shape, hide, alter any form of communication between private citizens or large public audiences and we can't let this continue to happen.
