Qatari FM emphasizes to take Doha-Islamabad relations into strong economic partnership

Pakistan and Qatar have vowed to strengthen bilateral ties by forging partnerships and enhancing economic and trade relations.

The resolve was expressed during a meeting of the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on the sidelines of UN General Assembly session in New York.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi welcomed increase in the bilateral trade by 53 percent.

He stressed the need to explore economic potential between the two countries by increasing exports in sectors such as food items, construction material, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, sports goods and fabrics.

The Qatari Foreign Minister emphasized on translating historic relations between the two countries into enhanced economic partnership.

Both sides reiterated to continue to work together at all fora for the advancement of common causes.

 

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has called for establishment of an inquiry commission to probe into the human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir.

He was addressing the OIC Contact Group on Kashmir in New York.

The Minister informed the OIC Group on human rights abuses perpetrated by the Indian Occupied Forces in held valley.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that reforms in the United Nations Security Council by an intergovernmental dialogue framework are very imperative.

He was addressing a meeting in connection with reforms in Security Council in New York today.

He said democratic, representative and transparent Security Council is the essential part of reforms and consultation with all member states is important in this regard.
