Russia has expressed its support to North Korea's efforts to ease tensions on the Korean peninsula.

The support was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin during his first-ever meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Vladivostok.

Russian President said, he is confident that North Korean leader's visit will help to better understand how to reach settlement over the Korean peninsula and develop bilateral ties.

Vladimir Putin said he welcomes Kim’s efforts to normalize Pyongyang’s relations with the United States.
