The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) in collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) has taken a number of initiatives to strengthen vocational training opportunities and enhance institutional capacity of persons with disabilities.

It was briefed in a high-level meeting held in Islamabad with Federal Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training in the chair.

The meeting also discussed the up gradation of the National Training Centre for Special Persons in collaboration with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission.

The meeting focused on strengthening institutional collaboration to transform National Training Centre for Special Persons into a modern, inclusive and market-oriented vocational training institution capable of equipping persons with disabilities with industry-relevant skills and enhanced employment opportunities.

During the meeting, it was also agreed that National Vocational and Technical Training Commission would facilitate the registration and affiliation of National Training Centre for Special Persons on a fast-track basis and without any financial burden on the institution. 

The participants further agreed to enhance the professional capacity of National Training Centre for Special Persons' trainers and instructors through Training of Trainers programmes and refresher courses.

Special emphasis was given on curriculum development and modernization. National Vocational and Technical Training Commission will work closely with National Training Centre for Special Persons to revise and adapt curricula for persons with disabilities, ensuring that training programmes are demand-driven, market-oriented and responsive to the learning needs of individuals across all categories of disabilities.

The meeting further resolved to upgrade and modernize National Training Centre for Special Persons laboratories through NAVTTC's technical assistance.

Recognizing the importance of employability and economic inclusion, NAVTTC will also support career counseling services and strengthen job placement opportunities for trainees through industry linkages and employment facilitation mechanisms.
