Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for a stronger international reaction over Israeli violence against Palestinians in the Gaza strip.

He made this call during a telephonic conversation with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

Erdogan and Guterres described the UN Human Rights Council's decision to form an independent commission to probe Gaza violence as a "positive development".

The Turkish President also shared information on the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul with the world body chief.

They also discussed the prevailing situation in Syria.
