Pakistan will not show any flexibility on Kashmir issue: FM
September 18, 2019

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has urged the political parties to rise above their political differences and speak with one voice in support of oppressed Kashmiri people at this critical juncture.

He was addressing the National Parliamentarians Conference on Kashmir in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The Foreign Minister said Modi government has Akhand Bharat mindset and the gravity of situation demands sanity on our part. He said certain political forces should not blow the trumpet which hurts the interests of Pakistan and benefits India.  He said those planning to organize Azadi March should turn it into Azadi March Kashmir.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi appreciated the Chairman Senate for holding this conference saying this gives the message that the elected representatives regardless of their differences are united for the Kashmiri people.

He said today's leadership in Pakistan will not show any flexibility on Kashmir dispute. He said today we have the prime minister who will not make any compromise on the interests of Pakistan.

The Foreign Minister once again categorically stated that Pakistan stands fully behind their Kashmiri brethren. He said the world can turn its face from Kashmir but Pakistan never will. This, he said, is the decision of the nation and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will effectively present the case of Kashmiris before the upcoming session of UN General Assembly. He said the Prime Minister in his address will represent the aspirations of Pakistani and Kashmiri people.

The Foreign Minister said that Kashmir dispute stands internationalized today and credit for this goes to the Prime Minister.

He pointed out that the UN Security Council held discussions on the festering dispute after a gap of fifty four years despite Indian efforts to get it postponed. He said the UNSC meeting reaffirmed Pakistan's stance that Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory and it can be resolved only through the UN Charter and the UN Security Council resolutions.

The Foreign Minister said the EU parliament held discussion on Kashmir dispute last night in which it not only voiced concerns over the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir but also demanded the resolution of outstanding dispute in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people.

The Foreign Minister said that the UN Human Rights Council at its recent meeting in Geneva also rejected the stance of India on the situation in occupied Kashmir.  He said fifty eight members of the council expressed solidarity with the statement presented by Pakistan.

He said the western media today is also exposing the true face of India.

The Foreign Minister said that not only Pakistan and Kashmiri people have rejected India's 5th August illegal steps in occupied Kashmir but India is also divided on it.

Addressing the Conference on Kashmir, Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari said diplomatic success that Pakistan has achieved on the Kashmir issue is historic as it is being debated at every international forum.

She said first time ever European Parliament conducted debate on the issue with the stance to pressurize India for imposing economic sanction.

Shireen Mazari said India is committing ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Occupied Kashmir.

She said we will try to demand the legal opinion of ICJ over the issue through General Assembly in its session being held later this month.

She urged United Nations to make a humanitarian corridor for the provision of medicines and food to Kashmiris in the held valley.

Addressing the Conference, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ali Amin Khan Gandapur paid tribute to the brave people of Indian Held Kashmir, who are facing the Indian atrocities since seven decades.

He said Pakistan will effectively highlight the Indian real face before the world as the incumbent government is raising the vice of Kashmiris on every forum of the globe.

Addressing the conference, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan urged the world powers, UN Security Council and the Human Rights Council to play its role in ending human rights violations committed by India in Occupied Kashmir.

Masood Khan appreciated the role of China, Turkey and Iran for raising voice against Indian aggression in IOK.
