Farmers have been advised to take necessary steps keeping in view the weather conditions and to protect crops from frost.

A Spokesman for the Punjab Agriculture Department said in a statement that plants should be covered with plastic sheets and slight irrigation should be carried out to save crops from adverse effects of cold weather.

He said that vegetables grown in tunnels can also get affected from the negative impact of cold weather.

He said that at night, the tunnel mouth should be closed so that inside temperature of the tunnel remain suitable for the growth of the vegetables.
