US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said Saudi Arabia promised to ensure a thorough probe into the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

In a statement in Saudi Arabia before leaving for Turkey, he said the Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman pledged that the work of the Saudi public prosecutor will be transparent and result oriented.

Meanwhile, after his arrival in Turkey, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has held a meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Wednesday.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said Pompeo would bring information about the case to Ankara, two weeks after Khashoggi vanished when he visited the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to collect documents for his planned marriage.
