The National Tax Council has decided that taxation rights on transportation business would be vested in the provinces while sales tax on toll manufacturing will rest with the Federation.

The meeting of the council was held in Islamabad today with Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin in the chair.

The council also decided that taxation right would be shared as per the constitutional arrangements regarding taxation on construction business.

Addressing the meeting Finance Minister emphasized the need for evolving consensus between the Federation and Provinces in matters relating to Sales tax harmonization.

He stressed upon the need to resolve tax-related issues in a spirit of cooperation between the Federation and the Federating units.
