PM reviews relief operations in AJK

Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Muzaffarabad on Wednesday and reviewed the latest situation after snow-slide incident in Neelum Valley.

He paid a visit to CMH and inquired about the health of those injured undergoing treatment.

The Chief Secretary AJK briefed the Prime Minister regarding damages incurred due to snowfall and avalanches and also briefed him about the relief efforts.

The Prime Minister directed the hospital administration to provide better medical facilities to the injured and also arrange medical teams in the affected areas. 

In his detailed briefing to the Prime Minister, the Chief Secretary Azad Kashmir, Mathar Niaz Rana said that rescue and relief activities are continuing in the rain and snow-hit areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

He said four helicopters took part in rescue and relief operations and the injured were shifted to Kail Sharda and Muzaffarabad.

He informed the Prime Minister that work on reopening of roads in the affected areas is underway on war footings while food and other necessary items have been provided to the affectees.

The Chief Secretary further informed that one hundred and 50 thousand rupees would be paid to the heirs of the died persons, 75 thousand rupees to the handicapped, while 50 thousand rupees will be given to the injured people.

Besides, one hundred thousand rupees will be paid for the damaged house, one hundred thousand rupees for the damaged vehicle and 50 thousand rupees for the damaged shop under first phase.

Our Muzaffarabad correspondent Badshah Khan reports that Chief Secretary also invited the attention of the Prime Minister to setup two utility stores at Neelum valley and construction of a by-pass.

President AJK Sardar Masood Khan, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ali Amin Gandapur, Speaker Legislative Assembly, Corps Commander Rawalpindi, GOC Murree and other high ranking civil and military officers were also present in the briefing.
