Pak Army wants strengthening of democracy: DG ISPR

Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Asif Ghafoor has said that Pakistan Army wants strengthening of democracy in the country.          

Talking to media in London, the DG ISPR said Army believes that democracy is the only way forward and as an institution, it has provided full support to democratic institutions.

He said all institutions of the country, including the army and the judiciary, should support the political governments for the sake of national stability.

The Army Spokesman said general elections 2018 were most transparent ever in history of the country.

He said Pakistan Army is custodian of China Pakistan Economic Corridor and this mega project will strengthen the economy of the country.

He said that Pakistan Army has absolutely no role in the ongoing anti-corruption and accountability drive.

Major General Asif Ghafoor said if India dares to launch a surgical strike inside Pakistan, it will face ten surgical strikes in response.   

He said those who think of any misadventure against us should have no doubt in their minds on Pakistan's capabilities.

The DG ISPR said there is a complete freedom of expression in the country. He said there is more good in Pakistan than the bad and the international media should also highlight positive things about Pakistan.

He said Pakistan has rendered huge sacrifices in war against terrorism to make the region and world safer.

Major General Asif Ghafoor said around seventy six thousand Pakistanis have embraced martyrdom in this war. He said today's Pakistan is much better than past.

About Occupied Kashmir, the DG ISPR said the indigenous freedom struggle of valiant people of Indian occupied Kashmir has entered into a decisive phase.

He said Pakistan is extending only moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of occupied Kashmir, whose ongoing struggle for freedom from Indian occupation is indigenous.

He said we are not providing any material support to the people of occupied Kashmir and added that Pakistan Army wants that Kashmir dispute should be resolved through dialogue, keeping in the view of the best interests of Pakistan.

The DG ISPR called upon the Pakistani media to counter Indian propaganda against Pakistan and its army.

Major General Asif Ghafoor termed the Army Chief's visit to the United Kingdom as successful and added that professional matters were discussed during the meetings with the UK authorities.
