PM vows to transform Pakistan into knowledge economy

Prime Minister Imran Khan has vowed to transform Pakistan into a knowledge economy by equipping the youth with the latest technologies.

He was addressing a ceremony after inaugurating Pakistan's First National Science and Technology Park at National University of Science and Technology in Islamabad on Monday.

The Prime Minister said a task force headed by Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman is giving advice to the government to convert the country into a knowledge economy. He said despite economic constraints, we have also set aside budget for this purpose.

Imran Khan said the government will give special emphasis to the science and technology, education and future technologies to unleash the potential of the youth.

He said equipping the youth with the latest technologies will help create immense opportunities for them.

The Prime Minister appreciated the initiative of the establishment of National Science and Technology Park at the NUST. 

He assured to provide every possible support to the university to take forward this project.  He said this model will also be replicated in other institutions as well.

Imran Khan said Pakistan was beaming with confidence and on the course of development in the 60s as meritocracy and capable bureaucracy was the hallmark of that era.

He regretted that Pakistan unfortunately witnessed a decline afterwards when merit was compromised and no attention was paid to uplift the education. He said today Pakistan lags far behind in literacy rate and quality education.

The Prime Minister urged the students to follow the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAW) to become future leaders.  

Imran Khan said by following the principles of the state of Madina, the Muslims ruled the world for hundreds of years. He said whosever will follow the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) will excel in his life.

Imran Khan also advised the students to make struggle part of their life and never be demoralized by the failures. He said the history only remembers those who work for the humanity.

Referring to the philanthropy of Bill Gates, Imran Khan said he is a great man who is spending his money for the welfare of humanity. He said Bill Gates is also providing funds to Pakistan for polio eradication.
