Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has invited Pakistani-American business leaders to invest in Pakistan.
He was addressing a gathering of prominent Pakistani-American entrepreneurs, technologists and financiers in Chicago today.
Ahsan Iqbal urged the Pakistani diaspora to bring their capital, expertise and global networks to support the country's economic transformation.
He said Pakistan has restored macroeconomic stability through economic reforms and is now focused on translating these gains into sustainable growth. He said improved national security, regional peace and economic stability have created a conducive environment for investment.
Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the government's URAAN Pakistan initiative, which aims to build a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2035 and a three-trillion-dollar economy by 2047.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment to facilitating investment and entrepreneurship and called on overseas Pakistanis to play a greater role in the country's economic development.
During his visit, the Minister also held meetings with representatives of the University of Chicago to strengthen cooperation in public-sector reforms, higher education, curriculum development and climate resilience.
The two sides agreed to launch joint programmes for training civil servants, facilitating academic collaboration and research, working with the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics on curriculum reforms, and expanding cooperation on emissions trading, energy policy and weather forecasting to enhance Pakistan's climate resilience.
