Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says Pakistan is ready for peace with India but at the same time it is fully prepared for its defence.

Talking to a private news channel, he said we have given positive signals to India for restoring peace in the region including sending the High Commissioner back to New Delhi and restoring weekly contact at the military operations directorates' level.

The Foreign Minister said the government of Bharatiya Janata Party in India believes that good relations with Pakistan may lead to their defeat in the general election.

He commended the role of China, Turkey, Russia and the United States in defusing the tension between the two countries in the post-Pulwama incident.

The Minister said China is our friend and we seek each other’s advice on any emerging situation.
